  • DHCP Leases

    Got into an issue today.

Realized that some wifi laptop clients cannot get ip address from the dhcp server.

I deleted some IP from the leased ones and voila!! they were able to get IP address.

Does this mean the dhcp scope as it is isnt enough?

    Re: DHCP Leases

It sounds that way to me. You need to either enlarge your address range or shorten your lease time.

      Pretty much exactly that.

If the lease period is too long then the server will hold on to those addresses even when the client has disconnected.

Typically we have a lease duration of 1 day for clients that connect via Wi-Fi.

..and check the event logs - if the scenario is true then you'll have events telling you the pool is full.
