  • Server 2012 DHCP clients IP addresses not updating server 2008 DNS

We have mixture of Windows server 2012 and 2008 in our enviornment, Our DHCP has VLANs and from last few weeks windows 7 clients computer name entries are not populating in DNS servers. DHCP is setup to always update dynamic A and PTR records in DNS servers. I have tried refereshing DHCP credentials for Domain Admin in advanced tab but no luck. We have not installed any windows updates for last few months and no change has been made recently on server roles.

Any ideas why it would be a problem all of a sudden.

    Thanks,
    Syed

    Is this AD integrated DNS?
Is DHCP running on a DNS server or stand alone?
Are your DCs 2008 and 2012?

      Hi Ossain,

This is AD integrated DNS, we have few DNS servers 3 onsite where the issue is and 6 other DNS and DHCP servers on other sites which replicates with each other on LAN extension.

DHCP is running on seperate server with Hot-Standy on Server 2012 where as the DNS servers are on Server 2008.

Our DCs are on 2008 R2.

      Regards,
      Syed
