  • DHCP Warning with Event ID 10020

    Hi,

We migrated Server 2003 AD and DNS to Server 2008 R2 and later also configured DHCP on the new box. In the event log we keep getting below warning message upon DHCP Service restart:

"This computer has at least one dynamically assigned IPv6 address. For reliable DHCPv6 server operation, you should use only static IPv6 addresses."

    Log Name: System
    Source: DHCP-Server
    Event ID: 10020
    Level: Warning

We have disabled IPv6 via registry and also unchecked it on all network interfaces. When we do "ipconfig /all" in cmd we don't see any interface with IPv6 option.

    How to resolve this?

    Thanks and Regards.

      Thanks for the quick reply.

Is there any option to set the message type as info instead of warning? or to not record such event?

      Thanks and Regards,

Re: DHCP Warning with Event ID 10020

When I do "netsh interface ipv6 uninstall" I get message "The following command was not found: netsh interface ipv6 uninstall"

Even the install command wouldn't work. Has MS removed the option to uninstall ipv6 in Server 2008 R2?

Other ipv6 commands like (show addresses, interfaces etc) work except install and uninstall.

Just found out that MS has removed ipv6 uninstall option from Windows 7 and Server 2008 onwards..

Any other ways to at least suppress the message?
