  • ERROR 1059 DHCP Service fails to start

I have a domain with two servers, and am in the process of removing one of them, there was a power outage, and when the power came back the second domain controller started and the first (org) didnt since that time there has been an error of 1059 DHCP service failed to see a directory server for authorization.

I have tried to stop and start DHCP with no luck, i also see in DNS there are now two zones _msdcs.domain name and domain name?

Re: ERROR 1059 DHCP Service fails to start

A DHCP Server needs to be authorised in an Active Directory domain.
you could try authorising it, and see if that helps ?

I suspect your first DC may have been a global catalog, and now the other can't look things up properly ?

Could you tell us a bit more about your infrastructure ?
under 'configuring the dhcp server' is steps on how to authorise. It's for 2000, but if you have trouble adapting te instructions to a 2003 server, come back and let me know and I'll give you specifics..
