Ok I've been reading all about ADMT all day now.

This is what I will be doing Migrating a windows 2000 server to a new windows 2003 SBS.
now what I've learned so far is that you can do all the migrations that are needed to get the new domain working, but what I did not find out is when you move the computer accounts to the new DC do the new client Pc's need to be connected to the new DC. or can they be connected to the DC at a later time

I might be getting this wrong but as far as I know SBS can't do trusts, and without trusts how are you exactly going to run ADMT? I could be wrong but I don't think I am. As for the computer accounts - yes, they need to be online and in their initial state, then ADMT will run and perform the migration, reboot the computers, transfer user profiles and all the necessary tasks.
