  • DHCP server migration

    Hi all,
I have 200 scope in my existing DHCP server which is still in old NT4 domain. I want to migrate it to my new ADS domain.

What are considerations I have to take care? Right now I have 3 days leases.

Can I just go my DHCP and join the DHCP server to the domain.

reduce lease time on the nt server to a few hours .. (there will be more network traffic, so warn youre network engineer...)
create new dhcp scope on the other server..

wait a few days... so everybody got the new lease times...

disable the old DHCP service and enable the new dhcp service.

    and you're ready.

      DHCP server migration

Do I have to create a another Box to run parallel with my old NT4DCHP.
After I recreate all my DHCP scopes in the new box, I have to shutdown the old one so that I cn use the IP address.

In my Router I have all my DHCP server defined.
