  • Windows migration help

Hi. I have a problem with 2000/XP/2003. I install Windows XP. My PC's mainboard is with intel chipset. After that I took my HDD and put it to another PC which has no HDD and with via chipset. And Windows XP is not opening on this PC. I know that 2000/XP/2003 doesn't supports more than 3 hardware changes. How can I resolve this problem. I want make XP as Windows 98. In 98 it needs all new drivers but it was opening. thank you for your help

    Re: Windows migration help

    Hello,
What does it mean "Windows xp is not opening?" what error message did you get? Migration of window xp/2003 images between computers with different HAL is not possible.
If the HAL is the same, the migration will succeed; different drivers are not a problem.

Your problem will be with the chipset drivers.

You will need to remove the old Intel drivers and install the new VIA drivers.

Personally if it were me i would rebuild said system to avoid any further conflicts.
