    Hello,

    i have sbs 2003,
    the dns server is broken, i tried to configure it to use a forwarder but that didnt work, also the server the doesnt use the dns root servers.

    how do i reinstall the dns service without breaking AD?

    Erez,
    if you want to get help, you should be more specific when describing problems you are experiencing. Just telling that DNS is broken does not give anyone a clue about how to approach the issue and troubleshoot it.

    Do you have AD integrated zone configured in DNS ?
    What EXACTLY does not work ?
    How have you come to the conclusion ? What troubleshooting steps have you performed ?

    Reinstalling DNS without knowing the source of the problem can only make the things worse.

      1. yes i have ad integrated zone.
      2. dns forwarders doesnt work.
      3. have tried to stop/restart the service, flush cache, restart dc.

        What do you mean forwarders doesn't work???

          i'm not getting any error,
          i deleted the root hints, cleared the cache, and setup forwarders.
          but still the dns server doesnt use them, it still resolves some domains and some not.
