  • Users lose permissions

    Hello,

    After a successful (I think...) migration of domain (from 2003 to 2012 r2), I
decided to demote the one (of two) old 2003 dc.

From then, some users randomly lose their permissions to their files and folders in file server.

    Have anyone an idea?

    Re: Users lose permissions

When you say upgrade, what do you mean? Did you add the 2012 server to the existing domain and promote it to a domain controller?

When you say users lose their permissions, does that mean you go to the directories the the permissions are no longer set with what you thought they should be?

When you say users "lose permissions", do you mean:
      1. that Access Control Entries are actually disappearing from the Access Control Lists of certain file or folder objects?
      2. that user objects are losing their Security Group memberships?
      3. that ACLs and Security Groups look normal, but users are still having issues accessing files?

What is the exact error message the users are seeing, and under which circumstances does it appear?

Are there any errors or warnings in the System or Security Event Logs that might be related to this issue?
