  • Active directry back up and restore

    Hello to all,

I am using 2008R2, created DC, and created users properly in different different ou's. now I brought the new server and I want to shift all the active directory data to new SERVER . how can I do ?

I am trying to use system state back up but not sure whether it will work or not .

any other way I can do this?

    Help appreciated.

no, you can't/shouldn't really do this. For a start, you'd need to be in DSRM (Directory SERvices Restore Mode) and you probably don't have the DSRM pasword

Install OS on your new server.
Promote to DC (DCPromo) as a new DC in existing domain
      Safely transfer FSMO roles
      Safely demote old server
      shutdown and decommission old server
