  • Transfer PDC Breaks DFS

    I have 3 DC's

Two in One site and One in another

When I transfer the PDC to the DC in the site with just one DC DFS breaks.

When I open the DFS Management Console it says

"The Namespace cannot be queried. The Specified Domain either does not exist or could not be contacted"

All services are running and i cant find anyhting in dcdiag or dfsutil root \\photonus.local\drives verbose

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Re: Transfer PDC Breaks DFS

Do you mean that you physically moved it from one site to another or do you mean that you moved the DC object in AD Sites and Services from one site to the other?

After transferring the PDC Emulator role, have you waited for AD replication or forced AD replication?

No physically move the DC just the PDC FSMO role from one DC to another DC in a different site

Can all computer resolve and connect to the PDC emulator? Is DNS showing the proper PDC holder?

DNS is fine, how do i test connecting to the PDC from another server?

                  Re: Transfer PDC Breaks DFS

You can use ping to test connectivity.

The nslookup query you should use to check the PDC info is:

                  _ldap._tcp.pdc._msdcs.photonus.local
                  Regards,

Do you use AD Integrated DNS zones?

check the DFS and directory services logs on the DCs and see if you're getting any replication errors.
                      Regards,

i got the IP to change correctly but still cannot access dfs when i transfer the PDC to this domain controller. Any thoughts?
