  • Administrator Account has been locked out

We have Active directory service(windows 2008 r2) installed in our system. Recently default Administrator account(as well as some other members of administrator) has been locked out(event id 12294).

    What should i do?

Some forum suggest to rename the default administrator account. Is there any problem if we rename the administrator account.

Re: Administrator Account has been locked out

Hi, I would rename it and just use accounts which are part of the 'domain admins' group to manage the domain.

Here is a good source of determining account lockouts, there may be better site to explain it.
a tool called lookoutstatus.exe and enabling: Turning on Failed Login Attempts Event Logging

I do tend to think 'outside the box' so others may not always share the same views.
