  • 2003 dc with schema updated to 2008

    Hello,
4DCs on main Domain Site. 2 -2008 and 2- 2003. The schema is updated to 2008 but the domain level is still 2003 in the forest.
I don't see any issue with replacing 2 2003 boxes.
2003 are physical boxes. 2008 -VMs. There is a firewall between them.
Old stuff... I don't want to touch this question.
But replacing 2003 with physical 2008 and leaving the same FSMO as on 2003 should not change anything. Correct?

    Thanks.

      forgot...
there is a WINS on one of 2003 that is important for touchy group of xp comps.
Don't remember if WINS server requires to be on DC.
If it could be just WINS than I am really safe...
      Plz specify.

      Thx.

Nope... WINS is not dependent on a domain controller

          Thanks.
Actually, after asking last question I remember that many years ago in Netware environment (AD didn't exist yet) I used WINS...
