  • Configure MS Word, Excel to leave temp files on workstation

    Hi,

All users worked at their homedirs on the File Server. Use local profile.
They usually use MS Word, Excel,...
They complained that sometimes, the network was slow.
I think the problem related to temp file which MS Word, Excel created when they was doing on the Word & Excel files. So I want to configure so that the temp files will be saved on local. Do you know how I could do that ?

And if I leave temp files on the Client, if there's a corrupt between Server & Client, is the data lost ?

    Thanks,
Love in vain is better than love no one.

As far as I know there' s no way to stop Word / Excel from creating the files you've mention in the parent directory. This has to do with how they work with the files etc.

    Read this for an explaination.

If these files aren't created and the application crashes you won't be able to use the auto-recovery feature so basically the person using the application would lose everything since the last save.
