    e.g: net use lpt1: \\tariq\tariq

note: the user tariq renamed his printer to name tariq

    net use lpt1: \\tariq\tariq

    A very quick gives:
    http://www.mydigitallife.info/unable...in-windows-xp/

Problem seems to be that the parallel port is already in use and only admins can re-map it.

A couple of solutions given above -- let us know how you get on.

From context, on the computer where you want to install the network shared printer

Is using LPT2 or LPT3 an option?
