  • System State Backup

    Hi,

I've read that to backup the AD you must perform a system state backup.
This is right...but to restore it you must enter in the AD RESTORE MODE.
    So now I've a question.
    Scenary:

I have 2 servers with AD. I always perform System State Backup.
My office is take fire and all is destroyed BUT NOT MY BACKUP.

    So I can restore...
But when I install Windows 2003 for the first time it is not a Domain controller so I have not the option ACTIVE DIRECTORY RESTORE MODE. Right?

    How can I solve it?
Should I perform a totally bogus AD install and then perform the restore?
    Regards,
    Marco.

Absolutely correct. You just install the machine as it was, paying attention to partitioning and SP levels, but WITHOUT active directory. Then, reboot in DS mode and do the restore.
