  • Deploying Branch Office AD

Hi, I have some question on deploying branch office. I'm not sure this scenario is work or not.

Initially we have a HQ located in Site A, it also a hub site, bridgehead
There are number of sites B,C,D connecting to Site A. (same forest, same AD domain)

I wonder if I create a site E which it's under site D, site E cannot communicate with site A directly, can I still deploy RWDC by temporary transfer RID role to site D, and then transfer RID back to site A once dcpromo complete?

Q: It seems possible, but any side effect?
Q: Since site E will contain large number of user, so rwdc is a must for site E, also subdomain is not preferable in site E.

    Any alternative on above requirement.

    Thanks alot!!

IIRC, as long as E can reach ANY domain controller, it can promote. Alternatively you could try setting up VPN Passthrough to get sort-of direct access to A
