The only time i have seen this is when the Windows firewall was switched on, on XP SP2 machines. I disabled it and it went away.

                      well,
                      i tried everything ,
no one seems to know what the problem might be.
it seems very strange that the 2 dc's (on gc) are fighting for domain master browser

Can't you disable the master browser forced election on the other DC? Do you need both to try to be master browsers?
                        Cheers,
