  • Delegate permissions to user to allow them to edit Contact objects?

    Hi,
I currently provide a hosted Active Directory infrastructure (2008 R2 based) for a client of mine and am the only one with Domain Admin rights.

A requirement has arisen to be able to delegate permissions to a specific user to allow them to be able to administer (add, edit and delete) contact objects within a specific OU in their Active Directory Hosted environment.

Is this possible? If, so what permissions do they need to be delegated?

Also - How would the user edit the contacts? - Would I have to install the AD Users and Computers admin tool on their machine - would they be able to view anything other than the OU they have been delegated access to?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

Obviously you could use the Delegation of control wizard on that OU. In terms of your second query, it depends what the requirements are and what permissions the user has.
You could do a trial with a test account with similar ad permissions to see for yourself.
