  • 2003 Domain Rename

We are considering changing our domain name. For simplicity, the company was originally old.com, but is now old.new.com, and we would like to be use only new.com. Additionally, Exchange 2003 email addresses use [email protected], but domain login is in the form old\alias.

I can't say for sure how the company ever got to this point, but I am now responsible for fixing it. Of course I have googled and searched this forum, but cannot find anything similar to this scenario. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      Re: 2003 Domain Rename

The only issue I ever had with a Domain rename, which I tend to not recommend, is that some domain members can be effected and the resolve has to be to make them into a workgroup and then domain join them again. Apart from that, a case of ensuring that DNS updates appropriately etc.

Do a DCDIAG before and after and of course the usual system state backup.
