  • Adding an extra nic to a DC

    Hi All,

If i add a second nic card to a DC, does it always carry AD info over it?

Can you limit what nics carry AD traffic, perhaps with the standard admin tools?

    thanks

Pure technically a multihomed domain controller is supported, but I am not so sure if it is a good practice.
(btw Will the nics each connect to a different subnet or the same subnet?)

To answer your question, you could configure TCP/IP Filtering for just one of the adapters.

In my opinion, if you multihome a DC, you are just asking for unnecessary trouble. In addition, multihoming is not recommended for certain roles/features such as WINS.

        HI,
I have installed and configured MS-AD on Server 2003 EE-R2, having two NIC,s ,for around 3000 users almost 4 years ago and it is still working Fine , in case if you want to do so then always use FQDN , i.e. not use specific IP address.
