  • DCPROMO error

    Dear All,

I have a LAN with 2 DC'S one of them is also a GC server .
I have added a third server as member server. I wanted to dcpromo it, but i get the following error:

The operation failed because: Failed to modify the necessary properties for the machine account MCDC-MZ-3$
    "Access is denied. "

Microsoft says i should run :

To resolve this behavior, you must install Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1), or disable the H.323/LDAP proxy service. To disable the service, you can type the following command at a command prompt:

netsh routing ip nat delete h323

    It has not worked.

Could someone send me an SOS.

    Re: DCPROMO error

    Hi,

are you running Windows 2000 or 2003?
Windows 2000 SP1 is quite old..

You could try to remove the new server from the domain and then run dcpromo and add it to the domain during the dcpromo process. Think I've heard that it may work..

      Hello, Mercury

Getting to the point I am running windows 2000 sp4 on all machines. I have just removed the member server from the network . Let see what happens....
