  • Upgrade NT domain to 2008 R2

have NT domain with 1 PDC and 1 BDC, now no choice, have to upgrade, i have tried out :
    install bdc on vm ware
    upgrade to pdc
    upgrade to win 2000
then install 2008 r2 on new server
join 2008 r2 as additional dc

i did with test domain is ok, the problem is with my office domain
there's 1 win 2000 dns/dhcp server, but now looks like it's not used, as all the dc and clients dns ip is ISP DNS, even on that DNS server the dns ip is ISP one
    no WINS server either

so after i install bdc and disconnect from the network and try to login with the already joined client pc, can't login

    how can i continue, pls?

How many clients/users are we talking about?
If small, seriously consider a fresh start to remove legacy c**p

130 users, so profile migration is a big task and email is not exchange, third party hosted
Prefer to do upgrade as i've spent almost 2 months on this

130 users is quite small, personally I would recommend you do a fresh install. There are plenty of tools out there to help create the users in bulk and profile migration will be quite simple. You will find you have more issues upgrading from NT.
