  • AD Given name problem

We have imported records to the Active directory from our HR systems which is all in arabic and are in first name. Now we want to split the given name into Firstname and lastname. Is there anything to automate this process to do it for all users...

well, we don't know anything about your HR system.

You would need to re-export your information, and export it in specific fields then reimport it.

Basically, you need to make sure you export as first, last, display, email or something like that.

          Re: AD Given name problem

In general, get the name string, search for the position with a "space" and treat the chars to the left as first name and to the right as last name.

          Of course that assumes
          a) Left to Right text (not, I presume, the case with Arabic)
          b) Only First and Last names, no intials, titles, "the Third" etc.
          c) A space is used as the separator

You can do the splitting with a script, or in Excel
