  • Folder Permissions question

    Hello all,

Please be gentle, I'm a bit new at this. I working within a Domain / Active Directory. I understand my groups and users. I am creating folders for users in a new location. Looking at existing users folders, they have The User, IS Department and System on the security tab for permissions. Any idea who what why "System" is there ?

    Re: Folder Permissions question

So the operating system can access the folder, for example for backup, auditing and integrity checking

    Leave it well alone!

      Re: Folder Permissions question

Excellent, Thank you Ossian. I have many folders misssing that permission from the previous administrator. Seems I will be fixing that in a lot of locations.

      Much Appreciated.

        Re: Folder Permissions question

In general, set them to inherit permissions from a (correctly configured) parent, then add additional perms if you need to
