  • Replication problem.... or not

This morning as most mornings I did a manual check on the health of my newly upgraded domain (2003->200. All the logs looked fine on the DCs so I thought all was ok, on a whim I did a repadmin /replsummary on both DCs. This has thrown an error on one of them:

Experienced the following operational errors trying to retrieve replication info
    rmation:
    58 - <FQDN of other DC>

It successfully reports one set of replication. The other server reports both ways correctly.

I have not seen any other symptoms and no errors in the logs indicating any problems. Any thoughts?

A couple of things I can suggest.
Try Dcdiag to see if there are any errors reported from the endpoint mapper.
Make sure there are no firewall rules blocking the endpoints to communicate.

Found the problem, dcdiag complained of not being able to resolve the local server failing the rdns entry. A remote server passed this check on it.

I found that I didn't change the local dns servers on the nic after building the server. Doh! .

      All fine now. Thanks.
