  • Re-Create _MSDCS zone?

I have an SBS 2008 machine that's been working great for a year. Last week it started going unresponsive - not crashing, just dropping off the network. We reboot it and it's fine for a while.

Today I discovered that the _msdcs.FQDN. is present, but it's missing all the folders under it - I've attached a screenshot.

Is it safe to remove that zone, and create a new AD integrated zone in it's place? I started to do that but the warning I got when I went to delete the existing zone, even though it's broken- made me pause.

I've tried other suggestions including ipconfig /flushdns and registerdns and restart netlogon but that has not worked.

      Try this

      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310568

Or create a new top level _msdcs.<domainname> folder and restart the netlogon service.

        Re: Re-Create _MSDCS zone?

netdiag /fix worked when I had this issue. From memory the Support Tools needed to be installed on the Server.
        1 1 was a racehorse.
        2 2 was 1 2.
        1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
        2 2 1 1 2
