  • Migrating to 2003 AD today - quick question

I am migrating to from Win 2000 AD to Win 2003 AD this week. Tonight I am running ADPrep. My question is - how much does running this affect performance.? Should I make sure users are not using apps that authenticate to AD during ADPrep? This may be obvious but I haven't seen much info on the subject.

    Thanks!

Re: Migrating to 2003 AD today - quick question

Please make the schema upgrade on the schema master server.
To avoid overhead on this server, you can connect it to seperate LAN/VLAN.
You can do the same thing with domain upgrae by moving the infra. FSMO to seperate LAN, upgrade the domain version on it and then move it to the LAN.
After a while (until replications will be finish) you can upgrade the operating system version to the latest one.
Its recommanded to test the upgrade in a lab first.
