  • User for Authentication Only

    Hi,
I am looking to create an account in AD that only allows the user permission for Authentication. I do not want this user to have Access to anything else in the Company. The reason for this is we have an internal application that uses AD for Authentication. I want this user to have access to this application ONLY. Would I set this user up like I would a Service Account? My Boss was thinking of setting up a a complete new Domain for these accounts but I think this is WAY WAY overkill.

Just create a least priviledge domain account or a domain based service account whichever suits the application best.
I'd even consider a local Network services account before the additional domain that is suggested.

      Hi,

If you create a AD user so it will authenticate anyhow. As far as access is concerned you can that depends upon on which resources user has authorization.
      Thanks & Regards
