  • Rogue folder in the DFSRoots tree

As far as I know, the folder tree in C:\DFSRoots on a DFS server is system-managed and should not be touched by human hands.

However a user is asking for a report on who has access to the DFS namespace:

    \\MyDomain.local\CORP\VIC\Procurement

But I cannot find this folder in the DFS Management dialog. However, I did find the following:

    C:\DFSRoots\CORP\VIC\Procurement

By nature, no one has access to this folder from the server's console, but it seems that there are users accessing files in this folder tree from their workstations. How can I get access to this folder to move its contents to the "proper" location, which is a shared folder on the server where the other DFS namespaces reside? Thanks.

Problem solved. The DFS Namespace was not created as per our IT policy which dictates that the namespace needs to follow the folder naming structure and thus all is OK now.
