    Hi,

I've scheduled a job to take backup of AD and i want to mount backup set first before i proceed with restore. How can i

when i mount the snapshot which is created by windows backup it gives me below contents

    C:\$SNAP_201101302102_VOLUME\WindowsImageBackup\
    Backup 2011-01-30 180014
    Catalog
    MediaId
    SPPMetadataCache

but i can't find ntds files in this backup to mount or to see what contents are in this snapshot

The items are included in the backup are Baremetal, system state and local c:

Well, i'm not sure how you made the backup, but if you have used windows backup, than the AD backup is included in the system state backup. Beware of the authorative or nonauthorative restore.
