  • lost domain controller

    Hello to all:

A customer of ours had this domain administrator (he's fired now), who for reasons best known to him, removed the domain and domain controller by formatting the system. As a result the systems that were part of the domain and controlled by the DC are now orphaned.

There were no data on the domain controller, so data is not the problem.

Can anyone suggest the best course of action in this scenario? Would creating the same domain and domain controller on the same or another hardware work?

    Thanks
    Neeraj

    do you have AD backup?
do you have exchange or any other AD dependant applications running there?

None....nothing else that is dependent. Only the AD, for which there is no backup.

Sorry, but your only option is a new domain and DC
Join computers to the new domain

You can export profiles but given the situation you would probably be better with a complete fresh start to a known state.
