  • Querying AD for a list of users in an OU showing all thier groups also

I have tried Hyena, i can get a list of the users , but not users showing all the groups.

The query tool in AD is to basic and wont give me the results either.

Have tried DSGET and DSquery, still cant get all the groups listed along with the users.

Have played about with some vbs scripts but cannot get them to work.

The users are in an OU, so need all users in that OU to appear in a list, but to have all the groups users are in, to export into a document.

Any ideas, examples of any dsget switches ...!

    Hi,

What is the OS 2003/2008. can you powershell or Quest AD commandlets ( preferrable)

By this "but to have all the groups users are in," Do you mean you want user's group membership as well

I can then write a powershell or QuestAD code for you
    Thanks & Regards

Yes, the OU structure is similar to:

      OU=Child,OU=Parent,DC=ourdomain,DC= net"

I want to create a list of all users in the child OU, with all group memberships to them, ie global, universal and domain local...if its possible.

      The server is 2003

I have no experience of powershell or QuestAD , but am willing to learn

      thankyou

        Hi,

first of all you need to install powershell v2.0, requirements are .net framework 3.5 sp1 then you need to install questad commandlets both are free and been used a lot by sysadmins
Once it's installed change the execution policy

        launch quest ad cmdlet

        set-executionpolicy -executionPolicy remotesigned

then here is the piece of code you need to execute

        get-qaduser -searchroot "domain.net\parent\child\ou" | select displayName, sAMAccountName, memberof | export-csv -path c:\users.csv -notypeinformation
        Thanks & Regards
