  • Replicating ADAM instance

    Hi,

I am replicating an instance from server01 port no 50000.
Replicate it to Server02 port no 50010.

After replicating the instance when I was trying to connect the replicated instance in server02 by using ADSIEdit tool, it showing error "A referral was return from server"

Here both server is in a domain. Administrator of that instance is a domain user.

Please help me to get rid of from this error.

    Thanks
    Robi

    Re: Replicating ADAM instance

Uninstalling the second instance will get rid of the error, but this may not be quite what you want

Can you post or screenshot the connection settings you are using in ADSIEdit for each instance?
Are you connecting locally or from a remote machine (in both cases)?

If you are connecting from a remote machine, localhost will NOT work -- you wlll need the server name

        What about the working connection?

Thank you very much for your reply.
I did try with machine name, but still not work.
I have made vpn connection from local machine then remote logged in.

          Thanks

            Re: Replicating ADAM instance

Are you able to connect to instance 1 ?? if yes, then for instance 2 make sure that you are using the correct settings. I saw on the pic that you posted the port number was 50008 whereas you've mentioned the port to be 50010. Also, are you putting in the complete Distinguished Name ....
