  • Re: Active Directory Invalid Characters

I would like to know if in the username of the active directory a "," is allowed or not. The original system administrator added a "," to separate the username and now when I try to integrate the AD to the Akeni Enterprise IM, there is an error message that says that "," is not valid.

Are you talking about displayName, userPrincipalName or sAMAccountName attribute ?

If you can configure it, it is allowed. Wether it is a smart thing to do is another question.

Note that some interfaces are buggy. For instance, a "," is not allowed in LDAP; you need to escape it using "\,". If the interface does not escape the "," you might have a problem.

(this sounds like a problem with the CN, by the way)
