  • 2003 to 2003 Domain Migration including Exchange Server

    Hi All my Seniors,

I have to do a migration project and current infrastructure is as follow:

    Domain: 2003
    DC1 : 2003 (Mydomain.local)
    DC2 : 2003 and Exchange Server 2003
    Member Server: 2003 SQL Server

Our migration plan is like that (according to HQ)

Target domain: windows 2003 (64bit DC) - It will be new hardware and new server and DC of new doamin (

So, when I check the ADMT tool versions.

I found that version 3.0 is for Windows NT to Windows server 2003.
version 3.1 and 3.2 are for 2003 to 2008 (According to "Installation on platform" column of "Active Directory Migration Tool Versions Supported environments)

So, I'm not sure which version should I use. But I think I must use version 3.1. Am I right?

And one more thing is what other things do I need to prepare for Exchange Server. It is installed on Additional DC.
Will it be any issue in migration process?

    Thanks in Advanced,

    Thu Ya

Not sure about ADMT but I think 3.1 is correct

If Exchange is on a DC, you have a range of separate issues you must be aware of -- it is definitely not recommended but once you have it, it is difficult to get rid of!
