  • Issue in remove active directory

    Hi,

I have an issue when removing Active Directory.

I created a AD and my system become very slow. So I want to remove my AD from my Win2003 server. When I try to do the below steps, I am getting the timeout and I was not able to remove AD. How wil I overcome this issue???

    To uninstall Active Directory
Click Start, click Run, type dcpromo and then click OK.

The Active Directory Installation Wizard appears. Click Next at the Welcome screen.

You have an option to select This server is the last domain controller in the domain. If you select this option, the wizard attempts to remove the domain from the forest. Do not select this option. Click Next.

At the Administrative Password screen, enter and confirm the password that you want to assign to the local Administrator account after Active Directory is removed. Click Next.

At the Summary screen, verify that the information is correct and then click Next to proceed with the removal.

The wizard proceeds to remove Active Directory. After it finishes, the wizard displays a completion screen. Click Finish to close the wizard.

yea, that doesn't help me much. You'll need to give me information about where the time out occurs, to start with.

With the information I currently have, my best recommendation would be to format your computer and start again.

my recommendation remains that you reformat and reinstall your computer.

You haven't given us enough information to troubleshoot the issue, and I'm not going to play 20 questions.

These two links may provide you with more assistance on how to frame your question to us more appropriately.

Agreed - flatten and reinstall, particularly as this is the only DC, and since the wording of your first post suggests that this isn't a production environment.

If it is a production environment, you'll have a backup taken before you promoted the machine to a DC anyway which you can restore from, won't you
