    Hello everyone,

I'm currently revising for my Windows 2003 AD exam (70-294) and I'm doing OK with lots of the topics and subjects. However, I'm probably being a bit dense but I can't get my head around Group Scopes. I get confused as to when to use which group, and how the nesting works according to Microsoft.

I've done some reading online and I can't seem to get my head around it. Does anyone know of any good documentation that will hammer these points into my head?

    Thanks in advance!
    Arran

    Re: Server 2003 Group Scopes

    simply acronym for group nesting:

    (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGDLP)
AGDLP - Accounts, Global, Domain Local, Permissions

So you add accounts to global groups. Add global groups to domain local groups, and apply permissions to the domainlocal group.

There is also some extensions to this.. but that's the basis of it.

Does this help you at all ? (there's heaps of acronyms to help with MS things.. )

    good luck with your exam

Brilliant stuff TehCamel, that does help.

I'm guessing that if the DFL is 2000 Native or 2003 and therefore Universal Groups are available the order is:

AGUDLP - Accounts, Global, Universal, Domain Local, Permissions ??

      Cheers for the tip
