  • Professional tool for active directory event monitoring

Is there a specific professional tool for active directory event monitoring and recommending solutions right ahead?

Just like Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA tool) which scans servers and suggesting appropriate solutions.

    Any clues?

My googling did not bring something home

Lots of tools for event monitoring (e.g. GFI) but recommending solutions is probably beyond them -- does quite a good job, though

Keep in mind that the cause of an event depends on the whole of your configuration, so a solution may be different e.g. when you have Exchange to the solution for the same event when you dont

SCOM is Microsoft's juggernaut event monitoring tool that might be worth a looky see.

        Thank you all!

Do you have any similar suggestion for an effective patch management solution? I went through this WSUS stuff...never tried it yet.

Is it really effective since it's a free app? How are the pros and cons? Any other 3rd party tools better than this?

I have found WSUS to be highly effective, especially given it is free
Easy to install, easy to manage, good reporting

            WSUS is great. I approve.

Third party tools like patchlink and Microsoft's SCCM might offer you more flexibility, but WSUS should fit most if not all of your needs. Check this thread out: http://forums.petri.com/showthread.p...ight=patchlink
