    Re: functional level

    there are two functional levels.
Domain functional level and Forest functional level.

If you have only Windows Server 2003 DCs, then you could probably set both forest and domain to 2003 Native.

Windows 2000 native would have been the default functional level when the forest/domain were created

I don't quite understand your most recent question.
When did you previously raise the domain and forest functional levels ?

            Re: functional level

you raised both domain and forest functional levels ?

Why not just try it again - it'll fail if it's not already there.

Also, I'm hoping someone else can come along and perform the same task you have, and work out if it appears the same.. I don't have access to a system at the moment unfortunately :/

              Re: functional level

I've just recently added a W2k8 DC to our W2k3 domain. I raised the domain functional level from W2000 mixed to W2k3 and it was still reported as being 2000.

Only when I had raised both functional levels - domain and forest, it was reported correctly.

                    Re: functional level

                    Hi

You can configure the forest functional level by using the active directory domains and trust administative console. Select then right click where it says active directory domains and trust and you will see the option that says raise forest functional level.

Once you make this change you will notice that intra site replication will occur within secs rather than 5 mins.

Also by making this change you will never be able to add a down level domain to your forest, not that you would want to but just a heads up.

                    Regards,
