  • Active Directory Migration from 2000-2008

    Hello,
I have my windows 2000 ADS with 5 DC's on WAN network, all on old hardware which is reaching EOL.
I need to migrate the domain to Windows 2008 on new hardware. Appreciate some insight or link for this.
    Thanks

    Hi,

I am unclear as to whether or not a migration is truly needed. Since you are going to new hardware to make this easier you can bring up the new 2008 DCs into the environment once the ADPREPs have been done within the environment. This should make the move to 2008 much much easier. Following is a link to the overview on ADPREP, Hope this helps...

Thank you, I got it. I will run adprep and then introduce a new 2008 DC.

Can I have domain controller with Windows Server 2008 R2 and General Windows Server 2008 in a domain?
