  • Options for AD Authentication

    Hi,

Does anybody know if it's possible to add an additional authentication option to AD?

To provide some context to this question, we currently use a standard eight digit user name based on country code / last name / first name initial and I've been asked to change this to a persons ten digit employee ID instead. I see potential issues with people remembering this number therefore I'm keen to understand if we can provide users with the option to use either, such as:

    GBBLOGGSF (current login)
    or
    3000012345 (proposed alternative)

Any suggestions or feedback greatly appreciated.

Nope. A user has just one (netbios) name. However.... there is the upn. Not saying you should do that, but you could do this:

      logon1: GBBLOGGSF
      logon2: [email protected]

Note: changeing the netbios name might break stuff:
      - passthrough authentication
      - applications that authenticate using netbios name. Badly written intranet apps come to mind.
      - there's more, I'm sure.
