  • Upgrading 2000 w/Exchange 2003 running to a 2003 Domain

Hello all, just wanted any comments on gothas...
    Here's my specs:
    Single Domain
7 well-connected physical sites (7 AD sites) with DCs at each
    Several hundred user accounts
All DCs running 2000 SRV SP4
    No Replication errors
The first DC that I am upgrading:
    - has all 5 FMSO roles assigned to it
    - runs DHCP, DNS
    - has been lab tested - did a complete shadow back and upgraded that test box (same hardware) with no issues (except repls of course). Even attached a workstation to test DHCP, DNS.
    No replication/topology issues
Exchange 2003 already functioning in the domain for several years (so I assume I would have no schema updates to apply for this upgrade)
All DCDIAGs complete with no errors

How long (or quickly) should I do the next upgrade (after successful schema reps of course)? - plan to stage over a few weeks
Can I just DCPROMO new 2003 boxes after the first 2000 DC is upgraded? (instead of upgrading older 2000 boxes, reduces my HD size and 2000 upgrade risk)
    Reviewed all published MS/other docs..

Any other comments welcome ... Thanks

Are you going to plan an inplace upgrade or are you start using different hardware?
