  • Adding 2008 DC to exsting 2003 DC

    Hi,

    I have addede new DC running 2008 to 2003 AD which is existing one. I ran DCPROMO and Integrated DNS installed.

    When I run nslookup is says

    DNS request timed out.
    timeout was 2 seconds.
    Default Server: UnKnown
    Address: ::1

    My TCP/IP settings are
    IP 10.0.1.17
    sunber 255.0.0.0.
    GW 10.0.1.1
    DNS : 10.0.1.17
    ALT DNS 10.0.1.2 which is out primary DC

    Can somebody tell me the solution for this. and also give me the complete steps of migrating 2003 DC to 2008 DC

    Thanks

    First make sure that your DNS infrastructure is working properly. That is the base for any AD functionality.

    As for a complete guide for migrating to Windows Server 2008... well, you don't really expect someone to write it all down, do you?

    You can use one of the many available guides. For example:
