  • Active director or dns not working properly

    Hello Everyone

    here is my network configration

    Two Domain Controllers With 2 NIC installed on Both

    DC1= 2 NIC NIC1-IP=10.96.0.1, NIC-2 IP=10.32.0.1
    DC2= 2 NIC NIC1-IP=10.96.0.99, NIC-2 IP=10.32.0.99

    DC1
    DNS on NIC1-IP= PREFER 10.96.0.1 ALTERNATE 10.96.0.99
    DNS on NIC2-IP= PREFER 10.32.0.1 ALTERNATE 10.32.0.99

    DC2
    DNS on NIC1-IP= PREFER 10.96.0.99 ALTERNATE 10.96.0.1
    DNS on NIC2-IP= PREFER 10.32.0.99 ALTERNATE 10.32.0.1

    NO default gatway

    The Probem dns is not working properly some time works some times no
    there is many different error found in this file

    Broken delegation error dcdiag failed this test
    also 10.96.0.1 and 10.96.0.99 is invalid in this file

    please provide some information that i use to resolve this problem

    1. Broken delegation errors in dcdiag delegation test

    2. some time I am getting Error message when i manually replicate data form dssite.msc only dc2 is manualy replecte to dc1 but dc2 to dc1 replication failed and given me some time RPC SERVER ERROR AND some time "TARGET PRINCILE NAME IS INVALID" when i play around dns

    3.Why 10.96.0.1 and 10.96.0.99 is invalid dns in dcdiag test

    IMPORTANT is dc2 that additonal domain controller that have PDC AND RID role holder when i go to dns change the replication scope setting 3 option domain name is not showing it is showing <NULL> INSTEAD OF domain name

    Please See Attached File For Details

    Multi homing a DC is generally a bad idea.
    GoogleFu is strong with this one ^

      Re: Active director or dns not working properly

      you need to run this command on your multihomed DNS server

      Dnscmd.exe /Config /LocalNetPriorityNetMask 0x0000FFFF

      Why ? read this :

      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842197

      we also run multihmoed environment here
