    Hello,

I have a problem I've been working on for a few days and would like some help if any of you have any ideas.

    Server 2003 Schema Master DC
    Domain/Forrest 2003 Level
    I have Enterprise/Domain Admin Rights

I'm trying to add an additional viewable column in AD UC, when you open the users OU and select View-Add/Remove Columns the Manager Attribute is not selectable.

I have tried using ADSIEDIT.msc and modifying:

    CN=Configuration, DC=xxxxx, DC=com
    -CN=DisplaySpecifiers
    -CN=409
    -CN=default-Display
    -extraColumns

Under the Default Display I tried to add the value "manager,Manager,0,100,0"
to the extraColumns attribute but it doesn't show up.

    Any ideas?

Thanks for any help you can provide----Richard

    rstrik

You can add a custom column which appears in the 'Find' option of ADUC

    See here for details
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/296646/en-us

Also this blog may help with displaying a custom column in the ADUC console

    Hope this helps

Re: Active Directory FL/DFL 2003 - Adding Viewable Columns

      Thanks for the reply,

The links you posted are exactly what I was following, for some reason it's not working, I will continue to work on it and let you know if I find the solution, I'm working in an enviornment with 4 DCs so I'm thinking I may need to try and force replication to verify my changes aren't working.

The PBer blog is talking about adding attributes to the "find" option, I'm just needing the ability to view the column manager in the ADUC window, along with name, etc...

      Thanks,
      rs

I've never attempted this before so I'll try it in my test lab and let you know how I get on.

Re: Active Directory FL/DFL 2003 - Adding Viewable Columns

Did you ever get this working? I think the issue is you are modifying the default-display which doesn't really work for OUs.

What you need to modify likely is the extraColumns for organizationalUnit-Display. The extraColumns field only displays the columns that are configured. If it is blank, it will refer to the values in the extraColumns for default-Display. So what you have to do is copy all the values from extraColumns in the default-Display to the extraColumns in organizationalUnit-Display and add your manager,manager,0,1,0 there.

          Hope this helps.

          Hope that helps.
