  • Locked Workstation Administrator Override

    Currently our organization uses a utility called Screen Pass (http://www.screenpass.net) which allows a domain administrator to override a locked workstation without logging the user off of the machine.

    We would like to find a different way of doing this without having to install Screen Pass on every machine, it's currently pushed via Group Policy to all workstations but we have licensing constraints and are seeking a different utility that's either cheaper, free or a way we could program this ourselves. We are a software company so that wouldn't be too difficult if we knew what route to take.

    Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

    I'm not aware of any utility within Windows to achieve this, other than using an RDP session to the desktop.

      You can look into WinExit.scr: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314999
      Also available in 2003 RK tools.

      @Hanley
      The RDP session will force a remote logoff.

        L4ndy you're right it does force a log off

        I was going to suggest WinExit but I got the impression the OP wanted to not log the user off the active session.
