  • NETDOM /verify failure

    Dear All,

I am confused about something I've read in Mastering Active Directory For Windows 2003 book.

I'm trying to migrate NTdomains accounts to a new AD server in a test environment. I have 1 AD DC and 1 NT4 Domains PDC.

I used NETDOM to establish trusts between both servers. If I use the AD Domains and Trusts MMC, the verification succeeds, if I use the NETDOM verify command method, I get the following message...

    ***************************
The attempt to contact the NetLogon service on domain controller \\NT4_DOMAINS_PDC_NETBIOS_NAME
for a secure channel query of trusting domain
?% failed with the following error:

The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

The command failed to complete successfully.
    ***************************

Could any one please explain to me why one method is successfull and one method fails?

    Many thanks

    Netdom

Did you tried to configure the DC's with LMHOST + HOST file in each PDC ?

Do you have SP4 or newer Service Pack on the NT4 machines?
    Best Regards,
