  • Manually Undeleting Objects in AD - LDP error message

    Hi -

    I have been following the instructions in the article "Manually Undeleting Objects in Active Directory", but I get the following results from LDP.exe

    -----------
    ***Call Modify...
    ldap_modify_ext_s(ld, 'CN=JCORLESS\0ADEL:e34adac7-85a6-4da3-9683-d5a0d6f553cd,CN=Deleted Objects,DC=*********,DC=local',[2] attrs, SvrCtrls, ClntCtrls);
    Error: Modify: Other. <80>
    Server error: 00002089: UpdErr: DSID-031B0C94, problem 5012 (DIR_ERROR), data 2

    I've googled several ways, cannot turn up any reference to the error. Anyone have any ideas?

    Am also working through the rather cumbersome ADRestore - no luck yet

      To be perfectly honest, there are free utilities to undelete AD objects. I would recommend using one of them unless this is a technical excercise for you.

        00002089 = ERROR_DS_NO_PARENT_OBJECT

        You need to first reanimate the OU/container the object was deleted from.
        take a look at lastKnowParent attribute of the tombstone to figure out which one it is.
