  • Domain user how to associtae different email address to him/her

    Hi

We are using Active Directory with Exchange server 2003 and client PCs are XP SP3.

I have got a user Allen (his position is a manager) currently he is using an object user called NMA with an associated email address : [email protected] ,,,,(fake address)

Right now he has got 230 555 items in that mailboxes ([email protected]).

He asked me that he wants to use a different email address because his position in a company is a manager and he should not be using the [email protected].,,,instaed he should be using: [email protected]

When I checked " Active Directory Users and Computers " I have seen an user object for a manger (created while ago) with an email associated to it as [email protected] (no one is using it) ,,,,,,has few emails 95 in it (95 items)

1- How can I migrate (move) all emails and profiles from previous outlook for [email protected] to [email protected] ????

2- I do not like to disbale [email protected],,,,because it will be used by another employee

3- Is there away that we can keep 95 items within [email protected] ?

I found those two when I googled

    Thanks

Yes, you can combine the two mailboxes into one mailbox and yes, a user can have multiple email addresses assigned to the same users and assign just one as the reply address.

Just export the mail from the old manager a/c and import it to a folder on the existing info a/c. Then remove the old mailbox. Then assign the manager email address to the info a/c and make it the Reply to address on the 'Email Addresses' tab.

Then your manager will now have his [email protected] email address and still receive mail via his old [email protected] address as well, so no loss of functionality.

Allen (manager) does not like to have two emails accounts attached to the same mailbox,,,,he needs to have only [email protected] and [email protected] will be used by another employee as quoted below

Just a clarification ,,,,,what do u mean by "old manager a/c " ? ????Is it same the account that I called it : manager account with 95 items ??

        1. Yes, you can move the old email address ([email protected]) to someone else if you wish.
        2. Assuming the manager is using the same AD account, you can then change his email address to [email protected] and he will get any mail to that account. You will need to work out which off the 555 mails and 95 mails he wants to keep and how to transfer them into one accounts (if its required).
